How to Survive an Economic Recession

October 17th, 2008 Filed under: Uncategorized — Finance Author

The consensus is that the recession has arrived, that it will hit all sectors and that it is going to get worse before it gets better. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you are in trouble. Yes, even if you are in a debt trap…there is a way out. Here are a few simple starting tips to help survive an economic recession.

1. Learn to live below your means. In order to survive the financial crisis, you must learn to live below your means. This means that even if you can afford something, you should first think whether or not you really need that particular item. By doing this, you will be able to save more money and you can be more prepared for any surprises.

2. Have a Budget. If you want to overcome any financial crisis, it’s essential to know how much money is coming in, how much is going out and where it’s going. A budget is the key to enabling you to take charge of your finances.

3. Review your bills regularly. Review your account statements, passbooks and online activity on a regular basis. Look for extra or missing transactions and report any discrepancies immediately and always within the time period required by your account agreement.

4. Pay yourself first. If you wait to see what’s left over, especially in a period of economic recession, you are less likely to save. Determine in advance how much money you plan to keep on deposit each month. If you receive a raise, increase the amount of money deposited into your savings account. This is absolutely the most important thing you can do to get on the path to creating wealth and achieving financial freedom.

5. Eliminate Credit Card Debt. For most people, credit card debt is the #1 roadblock to having better financial health. After you “pay yourself first” go after your Credit Card Debt. You will not likely get rid of it as quickly as you would like, but be persistent and you WILL succeed.

6. Try Prayer Power. It is lack of prayer power rather than any other insufficient factors which holds back thousands of people. When all your attempts to regularize your financial health fail, prayer power will work as a catalyst. You can achieve anything by prayer power. No matter which religion you belong to. Pray to the God almighty. Call him any name you like to call.
