Save Money Without Changing Your Life – 10 Simple Tips

March 21st, 2009 Filed under: Uncategorized — Finance Author

Here are some simple ways that can help you

1. Start shopping at Aldi supermarkets. We were skeptical but once we gave it a go we were very impressed by the products and the huge saving. They usually provide 2 at least options so you can try the cheaper one and then if you don’t like try the more expensive one.

I am now a big Aldi advocate. You can buy all your cleaning products there at a reduced price as well as nappies (which are just as good as Huggies brand, and I was a big Huggies fan); most foods are on offer but you may need to do a small shop at another supermarket as well. We have bought pasta, sauces, fruit/veg, snack food….the chocolate is fantastic, cereals, drinks, dairy products, pretty much everything. I am saving $15 a week just on nappies.

2. Check out the supermarket catalogs and try to buy what’s on special and buy items that have 2 for 1 special.

3. Buy in bulk. It is always cheaper to buy in bulk and having less packaging helps the environment.

4. If you purchase an Entertainment Book at entertainment.com you can purchase gift cards at 5% discount. So a $500 card will only cost you $475…saving of $25 each time you purchase one.

5. Only buy products that are on sale….but be careful you don’t impulse buy as sales can make you spend more if your not careful

6. When shopping if you’re paying with cash many places will give you a discount….You just have to ask. Especially when buying large items from places like electrical stores, furniture stores

7. Prepay phone plans and use a mobile phone that has only the basic features. If you know yr not going to use all the fancy features why pay for having them.

8. Make sure your credit cards, if you have them, don’t have too many fees. There are many out there that don’t charge ridiculous fees. You just need to research. Now with the internet you can find out all that info online.

9. Start de-cluttering your home and either sell your stuff on eBay or have a garage sale which is lots of fun….grab a couple of friends and do it together.

10. If you shop in the big shopping centres try not to stay past the free parking time. If you have to stay longer drive around the block and go back in.
